Your Perfect Fitness Domain For Your Perfect Fitness Site
So for your perfect fitness domain, we’re going to kick off the Online PT Fitness Business Supremacy Course at a very beginning, and that’s going to be how to buy a domain name. So I know it sounds quite straightforward, but there are a few things you need to look out for before you buy your fitness domains.
Top Talk to Me about Hyphens in the Fitness Domain
One of the questions I get asked quite a bit is; should you buy a fitness domain with hyphens in it? And basically what that means is having a dash in your domain name.
So really ideally, you would buy the fitness domain without it. So if your personal training companies called my personal training; best case scenario is you would just have my personal training.
But you can get one hyphen in there and it will still rank just fine in Google. So for example you know you could do something like that.
Anything more than one hyphen and you’re going to struggle to rank in Google; it just doesn’t look natural and Google just doesn’t seem to like it.
So avoid any more than one hyphen. One hyphen’s fine but if possible just go straight into the domain without any hyphens in there at all.
Talk to Me about TLDs in the Fitness Domain
Something else as well people often ask is should they always go and try the dot-com or co.uk and personally always try and get the dot-com. If you’re living in a country that has a personalized TLD like in the UK you could also do co.uk and it might be best.
The other ones that do rank well in Google is nets and orgs so they’re the ones really in that order I would choose and try and avoid anything like .be .me .info.
You just don’t see these websites ranking in Google so you know when you go to the Google search engine results it’s very rare. You know that just an example, it’s very rare that you see anything other than a .org or.com ranking.
.nets through also ranked it’s a .edu, so that’s like an education site, very rarely do you see any of these other sort of smaller, TLDs ranking so they’re really not important so try and avoid those if you can.
Talk to Me about PMDs and EMD’s in the Fitness Domain
And so when you’re buying the domain you’ve really got three options you can choose from;
- Number one is buying a domain with your brand name in there
- Number two is what we call a partial match domain a PMD. And that basically means that’s one of your keywords is in your fitness domain name so just to give you an example, if you are a personal trainer in London and something like Mentone Fitness would be a partial match domain, because you’ve got your suburb in there. So partial match domain will contain either your location or your main service, so that would be one variation of a partial match domain. Another variation would be say personal trainer. Say com that would be another partial match because you’ve got the service in there. But you don’t have the location so you’ve got one of the two location or we main service.
- And then the third option is an EMD which basically means Exact Match Domain. So that means you’ve got your location and your service.
So just to give you an example say MentoneFitness that would be an exact match domain because you’ve got your main keyword in there your main service which is fitness and you’ve also got your location in there as well.
So as we get on through the course I’m actually going to recommend that you buy two websites. We’re going to buy one branded and then that’s going to be your main site, and that’s really going to be the site that we’re going to sort be pushing for your social networks.
And really that’s going to be your evergreen site. So best site number one, that’s going to be your main site and then your second site is either going to be an EMD or PMD.
And it doesn’t really matter which one you choose but your second site is going to be like a lead generation site.
We’re just going to try and put a blanket over Google and we’re going to try and rate for as many keywords as we can. And for that we’re going to be using yeah PMD or EMD and in these YOU are going to pick up 2 domain names for this.
So as we go through the course with your partial match domain or EMD we’re going to be playing a little bit outside of Google’s Terms and Conditions.
So your branded site it’s going to be your evergreen and that’s really going to be doing what Google wants you to do and playing well within their Terms And Conditions. Your second site your lead generation site, well we’re just going to sort of stretch the boundaries a little bit.
Is This BlackHat?
And you know some people will say this is Whitehat SEO or Blackhat and I feel if you believe in that then you know your brand site is going to be your white hat SEO site and your lead generation site is going to be more sort of black cap.
I don’t really believe in whitehat SEO and black hat, I just believe in what works and what doesn’t. So just for the sake of this course I would actually do 2 just to keep you well safe and well within the boundaries.
So your lead generation site, that’s the one we’re going to sort of play with and sort of push out there, and your brand site, that’s going to be the real source safe site that is well within Google’s Terms and Conditions. And that’s the site we’re going to try and push into the maps, and your lead generation site is the one we’re just going to rank for hundreds or even thousands of keywords.
Why It’s ALL BlackHat
So just a little caveat before we get started. Any kind of SEO really is is kind of outside Google’s Terms and Conditions. The reason being Google makes its money from ads it makes.
Actually it makes ninety percent of all of its total revenue from its Adwords campaigns or ads in general. So the ads at the top and down the side and really some people say why don’t Google just have all ads and no content and the reason is because people don’t go to Google to look at ads, they go they out for more information and I go there to find content.
So it’s just like a TV station they need to put TV programs on and they’ll put ad breaks in between those TV programs to make their revenue. Same of a magazine that have articles and they’ll put ads in to make their revenue.
It’s the same with Google they need to have these free listings because this is what people use their website for. But really this is how they make their money and that’s on the ads so it’s not in Google’s interest to really have you ranking any organic results.
But they need you there so they’re always changing their algorithm to control you. So basically Google is a math problem.
It’s just millions of lines of code and that’s what they call their algorithm, and that basically that algorithm is changing almost daily. So your rankings will sort of go up and down a little bit and that’s just their algorithms changing,
That’s kind of normal so just to just let you know in at the beginning with this is SEO, it’s not something you do once and then forget about and you’re going to be ranking forever.
You do need to sort keep on changing things and updating things and keep working on it. So you know it’s a form of marketing.
So you just need to sort of budget that into your into your time as well. So really your task for this way is going to be to by your domains and to set up hosting with your fitness domains.
The Registrar and The Host
I recommend a registrar called 101domain and why I like this company is because they are
one of the most reasonably priced, and have “every extension to a domain possible”. Their site is classy and easy to navigate but also they’ve got really good customer support.
I’ve had them change their site, because I found a bug. And they gave me $100 of free domains as a thank you.
Hosts can be a pain. Go for one that has very fast SSD (Solid State Drives) Then actually test their speeds on GTMetrix Et al.
Stay away from crippy crappy Hostgator with their $1 per month discount hosting for the first month then $100 a year thereafter. And if you want to see how nasty they can be ask them why their logo used to be an alligator eating up my domain.
Opt for a Freaky Fast Host
GTMetrix clocks them at 4.5s, I have full domains that fully load in 0.5 secs. (Although the average is 7s) But if the host takes 4.5s you don’t have a chance do you?
So we’re going to buy two fitness domains so once, one domain is going to be your branded site, second one is at PMD or an EMD and we will be working on two sites simultaneously. So once you’ve bought your domains and then you just need to set up hosting and you actually and unbelievably buy this cheap and fast on Ebay. I happily use BlazingHost at a bargain price of $20 pa. but others abound.
You want a WordPress website so that’s important so just make sure it’s WordPress and we can do a lot more with plugins and SEO if it’s built on that rock solid platform.
If you’ve got any questions or comments just post them in the comments section below and I wish you a great fitness domain name for a great fitness site and for you, trim, taut and terrific Fitness.
first thing we’re going to do is we’re going to use google keyword tool. i just want you to go to google com and then search for google keyword tool there it is.
go ahead and search that and it should be the top the top address on your list here click that brings you this google adwords screen and this is where you type in your keywords.
so’s we’re going to be searching for a great fitness website today we’re going to put in fitness because that’s our category and then we’re going to put in our location so whether that be New York City Seattle San Diego Milwaukee Chicago whatever.
whatever that may be for you you’re going to add those search terms together so today I’m going to use fitness and Seattle and you’ll notice that you’re only supposed to put in one word or phrase per line so I’m going to put in fitness and then seattle next line and hit Search and see what it comes up with
what is going to do is it’s not only going to give me fitness and Seattle it’s going to put things together so we can see how many monthly searches globally and locally our people are doing on those specific terms
so you can see just fitness is getting a whole bunch of searches we’ve got 3lion searches for fitness but we can tell or we already know that we’re not going to be able to get a domain name that says fitness com because if we that it’s gone
let’s put it down it’s gone so we’re going to do is we’re going to look for certain things that we can put together
so we Seattle fitness which is not bad at all we have sea witch so here’s fitness program which might work into work pretty good
so we have let’s say we threw in Seattle fitness program so let’s try seeing what kind of what that looks like okay now we’re going to look for if there’s any specific searches for Seattle’s fitness program specifically
we get see how fitness which is good start because they’re getting 27,3:17clicks per month or searches per month on that specific term so if we throw in program on there it might allow us to have a unavailable URL
okay so this is how we how we pick what we’re going to search for on our domain their search for in a domain name because we can tell these search terms are being searched a lot
and then we can go and look for those domain names that will coincide with the searches
In the next video will show us how we’re going to take this Seattle fitness program searches that we found here and go and look for the domain name that we can buy and it will get us a lot of organic searches in our fitness domain, because of the terms that we found here on the google keyword tool.
